Brothers and Sisters,
I’ll keep this one short and try not to bore you with another “President’s Message.” 🤣 But this one is a little different.
This one isn’t about vessels, production, volume, or anything else going on around the Port.
This one is about YOU!
That’s right… YOU!
The men and women who continue to show up and show out for ILA Local 1475 every day, every week, around the clock.
HAPPY LABOR DAY! And a big salute to every one of you. This day is for YOU!
The work we perform here at the Port of Savannah as Clerks is extremely important. Our knowledge and experience reaches from climbing up on the deck of a ship while directing a ship-to-shore crane operator, to a wide range of computer and Terminal Operating System (TOS) skills, along with everything in between.
You all make it happen!
Every day. Seven days a week. Around the clock.
From landing a box in the correct position on deck, to keeping up with the constant movement of cargo, to stowing an entire vessel, you all continue to get the job done.
The men and women I represent as President of this great Local are second to none.
I could not be more proud to represent the BEST clerical Local in the ILA.
Yes, that’s correct… I said it. THE BEST!
And I truly believe that.
I truly love and appreciate each and every one of you and everything you do for this Local and for this Port every single day.
Again, I didn’t want this post to be a history lesson or another message about the Port.
I wanted this one to be about YOU ALL!
You guys are putting in the work. You are covering the work. You are doing it 24/7, 361 days a year.
You truly are earning your bread by the sweat of your brow.
So today, take a minute to be proud of what you do, proud of the work you perform, and proud to be a member of ILA Local 1475.
If you are traveling this Labor Day weekend, please travel safe and enjoy some well-deserved time with your family and friends.
